The Klein Oak Fine Arts Department received 4 Tommy Tune Award nominations for our 2017 musical Curtains, and two seniors received scholarships at the April 18, 2017 awards event.
- Best Supporting Actress – Grace Nardecchia/ Niki Harris
- Best Costume Design
- Best Choreography
- Best Orchestra
Two Klein Oak Theatre 2017 seniors received Tommy Tune Award Scholarships totaling $4000:
- Grace Nardecchia was awarded $3000; Grace will pursue a BFA in Musical Theatre at Rider University near Princeton, NJ.
- Karoline Thomas was awarded $1000; Karoline will pursue a BFA in Musical Theatre in the CAP21 program at Molloy College near NYC.
As a Best Supporting Actress nominee, Grace Nardecchia was featured in the Tommy Tune Awards opening number. Seniors Blake Samper and Roxanne Granat were featured in the closing number.
Since its inception in 2002, the Tommy Tune Awards has grown to be the largest celebration of High School Musical Theatre in Houston. The annual awards ceremony sponsored by Theatre Under the Stars recognizes excellence by high school students and teachers throughout the 9 county metropolitan area. Forty-five Houston area high schools participated in the 2017 competition.
